Medea

Some goofus was complaining on Reddit that Kingโ€™s Pet Sematary was predictable in its denouement. Buddy, itโ€™s a Greek tragedy in modern form. Itโ€™s supposed to be predictable. Thatโ€™s how tragedies freakinโ€™ work. The same person moaned a lot that the protagonist was arrogant. Well, yes. Because, see aboveโ€ฆGreek tragedy, remember? Hubris is always involved.

Just because heโ€™s likably arrogant/hubristic doesnโ€™t mean fate ainโ€™t gonna bring the hammer down. Because it did. The ending was assured once the protag decided to treat with the gods, and to act as one. Thatโ€™s the whole goddamn point. Fuck.
