So glad the time changed! It’s the best thing since eukaryotic life. Why anyone likes it getting dark at 4PM is beyond me and always will be.

Non-daylight savings time is not because people want it to get dark at 4pm, it’s because most people would prefer for it to be lighter at 7am or so when kids are going to school, especially in places like Northern Europe where they’re not shuttled around by helicopter parents but expected to make their own way by foot and/or public transport.
IIRC they tried keeping DST all year round in the 70s but accidents involving children on their way to school increased and most people didn’t like that.
I suppose they could adjust school hours to avoid that but tradition is what it is.
It is kind of absurd how early kids get sent to school, especially those older than 8-9 years old.
But that makes sense. I just always hated it, even when I was a kid.
