This is political, as all such things like this inevitably are. The reality is we could go to Mars in 10-12 years and set up a small colony if we threw a trillion dollars at it. This idiot just dislikes Musk and since he’s associated with Mars aspirations, worthless crap like this dribbles out from the intellectually challenged.
Superconductors are irrelevant and aren’t magic, so who gives a damn.
Fusion power is probably possible and if we crack it, great. If not, also who cares. We already have the sun.
New physics? Maybe, maybe not. We’d do better applying the physics we already know about.
Asteroid mining is not really needed but if it were, we could do it. At the moment it’s pointless.
And airships are also a big who gives a crap.
This reminds me of reading articles from around 1900 or so that talked about how heavier-than-air flight was impossible and that no one would ever travel that way. They also made a lot of other extremely-confident extremely-wrong predictions about things that would “never happen.”
