AI can be extremely useful — if you work with it correctly. For instance, today, using something I’d already developed in ChatGPT, I fed a questionnaire a company sent in (for an RFP) to my custom ChatGPT project. The normal time it would’ve taken me to complete a long questionnaire like this is a couple of hours.
Including the time it took me to verify it and tweak it after, it took five minutes. AI saved me one hour and 55 minutes, and produced a better result than I probably would have.
Like any tool, AI does not work if you don’t use it correctly. If you use a slide rule as a rock hammer, you’re gonna have a bad time. Why can’t people get that through their heads?
Another example. The other day, I ran a fairly complex financial analysis in ChatGPT. If I’d done it myself it would’ve taken 4-6 hours.
ChatGPT completed it (fully correctly, with some small tweaks) in 30 minutes. It also resulted in us saving about $5,000 a month in Azure costs. Real money, not whatever pretend shit the Twitter doof is going on about.
If you use the tool not like a damn clown, it can make you vastly more productive. But the crucial part is: do not be a huge fucking clown. And that’s where most people fail.

Live It, Don’t Diet
And everyone who claims that they only eat 800 calories a day and still gain weight is lying, lying, lying. Have to be, as that’s physically impossible.
I once saw a dude who maintained, “I only eat about 1,000 calories a day” routinely eat ~1,300 calorie breakfasts in front of me. He wasn’t counting his 300 calorie drink, nor any of the copious toppings he added to that breakfast. I never saw what he had for dinner (only breakfast and lunch), but I estimate if dinner was anything like the rest, he was consuming around 3,500 calories per diem. He was mystified why he was not losing weight on his “diet.”
This is how most people — for lack of a better word — think.
Song Times
Tonight, I was trying to think of which song I had listened to the most times in my life all the way through. And that’s difficult, as I listened to quite a few songs in high school over and over again in a way that I just do not tend to now.
A solid guess is “Bells Ring” by Mazzy Star. Damn, I must’ve queued that song up dozens of times in a row for a few years; it felt like its own tiny world to explore.
Incidentally, I saw that performance above the first and only time it aired. I even recorded it on VHS. Not sure why that version is cut off at the end, but that’s a great one despite the poor audio. In most ways, it betters the album version. I think Hope’s performance in particular is superior in the live edition. She sounds more pouty, somehow more depressedly impassioned, and more mysterious there. The album version is more sterile and more restrained despite using electric instruments.
The album version, though, does have a damn fine outro.
