Wrong Covid

About the ending of the mask mandate for travel, people say, โ€œWhat about Long Covid?โ€

I believe Long Covid is real, but itโ€™s also clear that most of the studies of it are pretty shoddy and the โ€œcognitive declineโ€ studies Iโ€™ve seen all have huge data problems, the effects are very small (within realm of natural variation), or are not actually measuring anything.

Also, I think 90% of โ€œLong Covidโ€ is just other pandemic-related effects (isolation, trauma, etc.) and will amount to nothing. I expect Long Covid will present at about the rate of post-viral syndrome for other common infections โ€” which is still a lot of people, to be fair. But it is not nearly the apocalypse predicted.

Also, for most people, โ€œLong Covidโ€ will actually be short or medium Covid, and they will be all better in a year or two. (Still, that sucks. But it is not being disabled for a lifetime.)

If I believed Long Covid was as severe and as common as portrayed I would do nearly anything to avoid it. But most of the panic around it, from what I can tell, is leftist rage that their preferred renovations of society were rejected.
