It’s hard to remember, but in the early ‘70s some scientists thought the Earth might be cooling.

I remember as this belief persisted into the mid-80s. No, fucking clowns, it wasn’t just fringe crackpots who said this. It wasn’t the scientific consensus (as there was not one then), but it was very much part of the scientific mainstream to believe that the earth might be cooling.

It’s so damn odd that people attempt to deny this when it was common, all to preserve some narrative that science is ever-unassailable and always 100% correct and has been forever. But it’s not. I remember; I was there.
