Itโs strange that people can complain about the supposed excessive violence in Game of Thrones while in the actual world that we live in, Aleppo exists (sort of, these days).
I donโt understand. But I guess when your life is excessively privileged, there are no consequences for believing all sorts of exceedingly ridiculous bullshit.
The violence in GoT is quite tame compared to many actual wars and events happening right this very second, and not on a TV screenโฆ.

Not really. They’re complaining about fictional violence in their entertainment and you’re talking about real world violence. Are some of these same people who are complaining also demanding to carry guns everywhere and anywhere without regard to common sense? Now that would be funny.
I wasn’t very clear in my post, sorry.
Many of the people I’m discussing are claiming that violence in war zones isn’t nearly as violent as the events that occur in Game of Thrones, therefore GoT is unrealistic — when the violence of actual wars like the Syrian one is far, far worse.
Why realism matters so much to these people, I don’t know. But they have no idea what realism is.
See, that’s also funny. Game of Thrones has fire breathing dragons and ice zombies and weird summers and winters that don’t conform to normal planetary seasons but it’s the violence that takes them out of the story for being too unrealistic?
How old are they again?
Yeah, if they want realism, perhaps they should ask why all the women in such a war zone have on very expensive and perfect make-up and perfectly-coiffed hair most of the time, and also manage to look ridiculously hot and yet not malnourished — when real women in that situation would look like they were run over by industrial vehicles.
But that sort of realism would make these (mostly men) blanch and decamp the ranch.
It’s the teeth which are the real giveaway that it’s fiction. I joke that my mother would have been a supermodel in medieval times because she’s never had so much as a cavity in her entire life.

Magical blowouts? “I just let my baby dragons breathe on my hair after they’ve brushed their teeth. Just breathe, mind you, I don’t want to burn my hair off, again! Then I get my handmaiden to braid my hair and I’m flying all over Essos with my children to destroy my enemies.” -Dany, 23, female warlord.
I kind of love GoT (hugely entertaining with great female characters) of but realize it is fantasy (in all caps). I also tend to not fully…. watch the most violent bits and find (for example) a simple conversation between Cersei and Margaery(sp?) to have more dramatic tension than 18 car chases.
I liked the way they handled Arya’s first kill on her famous list. While you have no shred of sympathy for her nasty pedophile victim the kill itself is ugly, ugly, ugly and kind of gives the lie to her fantasies of noble revenge.
(and yes, the teeth are the biggest give away and much harder to belive than dragons or ice zombies)
I’ll note for our host: Penny Dreadful has some great female characters and the most entertaining set pieces of any series in the last ….. fovever? Fabulously entertaining.
Have been meaning to watch Penny Dreadful for a while now.
Loved Jessica Jones, despite how dark it was. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it.
