Hebdo

The liberal reaction to the Charlie Hebdo massacre was one of the major things that turned me away from that suite of interlinked ideologies. Their gleeful reaction and equivocation of satirical cartoons with outright slaughter — some even saying that the cartoons were worse than murder — forced me to examine what and who they really were. And if I wanted to be part of that.

Turns out, I did not. Though I still consider myself a liberal in some sense, I think a lot of their goals are nefarious, their degrowth tendencies are pure evil, and their ignorance of history and human nature is shocking when you notice it.

I wish though that the right was better. It’s not. Both sides are purely clownish often in different but in many cases surprisingly similar ways.

Declines of Various Types

Worse than that, feminism has transitioned from a movement primarily about equality to merely another front in women’s intrasexual competition, which has intensified enormously as the number of suitable (by their assessment) men has declined.

That has not only made actual feminism as practiced vastly worse, but has done a number on women’s mental health. Combine that with social media and smartphone cognitohazards and women today are totally cooked. Especially in the US.

Lose Your Shirt

If we still made and sold shirts made using Medieval-level technology, a single one would cost around $5,000 if the spinners and weavers made only the US federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.

Yes, those Middle Ages shirts would be higher quality. Not enormously so, but they were designed to last for obvious reasons.

Automation and technology can now create a shirt that costs ~$25. No matter what degrowther nonsense you believe, that’s amazing.

Cover Up

If the Sahara desert were covered in solar panels, could it power the entire earth?

Assuming no loss in transmission just for ease-of-calculation purposes, covering ~12% of the Sahara Desert with solar panels, assuming 40% (typical) density, would supply the energy needs of the entire planet currently (pun intended). Nope, not just electricity use. All energy.

And no, I didn’t read the comments. I don’t care what they say as they are almost alway wrong about questions like this.

I stole this from somewhere else (forgot where now), but it’s funny that anti-vax sentiment could only develop where vaccines were nearly ubiquitous and had been for a long time.

Otherwise, all the death and then averting it with vaccines would make it immediately clear the effectiveness of vaccination.

Humans are overall kinda stupid.

Pall

Shorty after it occurred, I watched the video of Iryna Zarutska’s murder. That was as bad as you’d expect. I won’t view it again.

Even worse, though, I saw a tribute video one of her friends made of them having fun together. Even more than the murder video, it was hard to view. All the possibilities and promise of her life, gone. All the futures, erased. I’ve seen, I don’t know, thousands of people die in battle now; I’ve spent entirely too much time on the Combat Footage sub-Reddit and other places as I try to figure out how we’ll be fighting in Poland in 2027. Combat, though, will have death. It’s as predictable as gravity. It’s offensive and horrible but there it’s just what happens.

It’s a whole different thing witnessing a young woman murdered on a train where she should’ve been safe, with said murder committed by a worthless scumbag who should not have even been there. Both are affronts to civilization, but the way Iryna was murdered is a denial of the value and purpose of civilization itself. She probably would’ve been better off (and still alive) if she’d stayed in Ukraine.

Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska being murdered so near to one another in very public and horrifying ways is (pun intended) a turning point for the US, I think. We’re on some path that could (and likely will) lead to very bad things as the left goes full woke degwrother and the right seeks out revenge — while also having its own baneful degrowth tendencies.

Nearly all paths lead to ruin and disaster. We built those paths, though, so in reality it’s all our fault.

I’ve never, ever understood and never will how discussing cultural differences and caring about them is racist. I wouldn’t want a bunch of fucking Islamists migrating to the US no matter how lily-white they are. Keep them out; they just make everything worse as their culture is garbage. This is just as true of blonde-haired blue-eyed Muslims as it is of anyone darker.

Of course in reality, the left uses accusations of “racism” as cover for their project of dismantling Western civilization. Which, overall, is going pretty well for them — especially in Europe.
