Not a Pod Person

I wish I could appreciate and deal with things like audiobooks and podcasts but I just cannot.

My brain zones all the way out. So, so soporific. So sub-snail slow. I tried to listen to a podcast once and almost expired from utter boredom. The good new is that it (as they all are) was so plodding I could have 10 different thoughts between each word.

The rest is all bad news. Those things are just not for me.

Subcont

Indian manager gleeful about moving US jobs to India.

It’s branded as “racist,” when in reality it’s just an observation: when any people of Indian origin achieve management positions, they tend only to bring on other Indian people (of the same caste, even) whether those hires are in the US or India.

This funneling of jobs to those of Indian origin only is occuring throughout the IT industry. I fail to see how that mundane and obvious observation of reality is racist, but alrighty then.

Drop Ship Has Sailed

What are your IT pet peeves?

When I go to work conferences and people try to hand me their old laptops randomly.

First of all, Karen, I’m not the laptop recycling depot. We have an MSP for that.

Second of all, I flew here just like you did. What the fuck do you think I am going to do with your and half a dozen other people’s machines? I don’t have room in my carry-on for eight laptops (I already carry two myself).

Third, I’d never presume to just walk up to someone and just hand them random junk. What the hell is wrong with people? I know too many see us overpaid computer janitors but that doesn’t mean I am gonna act like one.

Fund

It’s also similar to the left’s assertion that if we could just not send those evil and bad rockets to evil bad and scary space, we’d be able to fund everything.

Wahwah

I also hold no opinion on Hillary Clinton’s past or present hotness, but I very much agree that the turn to anti-sex prudishness did some harm to the Dems — though it does comport directionally with Gen Z and their weird schoolmarmishness.

Pump Up

My neighbor runs a loud gas trash pump on his dock all day when he’s out.

This is moronic in about 37 different ways, but this sort of problem is what a .22 Long Rifle round is made to solve. If you’re a good shot that is.

Hit that pump with a couple of those, issue resolved. And .22 LR has low penetrating power from ricochet so there is very little danger of the round going through walls of nearby houses easily. But it will still fuck up the pump.

All About Them

Whatโ€™s the worst trait youโ€™ve noticed among Redditors?

Having very little life experience and declaring rather mundane and extremely common events and occurrences to be “impossible” or things that “would never happen.”

It’s weird how completely sincere they are about their belief in the impossibility of the quotidian. Part of it is just that many on Reddit are quite young, but part of is that anti-social basement dwellers post the most. And they’ve done and seen the least.
