Today, I was working on a somewhat-difficult but also fairly-repetitive task. It was repetitive but with slight variations — so, not worth it to automate and requiring focused concentration.

Since I work from home, I got the task done in about 4 hours of steady work. If I’d been forced to do this same task in the typical office, I estimate it would’ve taken me 3-5 full days because of all the interruptions, noise and gladhanders chattering. This is true for just about anyone who would do this task.

This sort of thing definitively demonstrates that companies with their RTO assclownery do not give a fuuuuuuccccckk about productivity at all.

A lot of women (and some men) moan and complain about not being considered attractive, but 60% of being hot is just being slender. Obviously there is a limit — too slender and you just look like some famine victim.

But for the most part — despite what people want to believe — the above is true.

A caveat: for men, being slender and muscular are required. Women can just be thin. In that way, they have it a good bit easier though the beauty standards for women overall are more stringent in other ways.

Further caveat: not everyone finds slenderness attractive, but probably 80-90% of men do when it comes to women. Take from that what you will.

People on Twitter be like, “I wore 37 masks and sprayed Lysol in my face every ten minutes, but an airplane flew above my head and someone on that plane had walked near a chinchilla that had Covid before boarding, and all my family got Covid and died because a single viral particle fell from the plane and then despite me heroically spewing a flamethrower at it as it chased me down the street like a cheetah on turbo-meth, I still got Covid and killed my whole family! Twice! Lockdown 4EVA!!!!”

Where do these people come from?

This is why I generally avoid assigning .0 IP addresses to anything as it can cause odd issues, even when it’s a perfectly legal host address. The same goes for .255. Avoid and save yourself some headaches. There are plenty of IP addresses.

I thought at the time (and still think) that Meryl Streep looked quite cute in 1983’s Silkwood with a mullet. Very good film too — now forgotten. I recommend it.

Its safety features are “you die immediately upon impact so don’t have to worry about medical bills” but that is a gorgeous piece of design and engineering. Costs about a mil. Not for me but I am glad it exists.

That it is. Again, it goes back to the fact that most people — even most “intellectuals” — cannot at all imagine that other people have and have had really, really different minds and ways of understanding the world.

A lot of discussion you read about Covid goes like this:

Covid paranoid: Covid does this amazing shocking thing that no other virus has done EVAR!!!!!!

Anyone with a clue: *squints a little* Hmm, looks fairly similar to other coronaviruses, and the post-viral sequelae match up quite will with other PAIS-like effects from other viruses of comparable severity, including the common flu.

Covid paranoid:: But Covid is more dangerous than nuclear weapons and John Wick combined to this day and breaks your immune system FOREVER!!!!!!111111

Anyone with a clue:: Vaccination and some level of herd immunity has proven very effective. It is true now that Covid will always be with us, though, and getting it repeatedly is not good. All correct. But it’s now on the order of the flu (finally), not some apocalyptic end-of-the-world virus (as much as many Covid paranoid types wish it were). Like all other infectious viruses, it does exhibit some temporary immunosuppressive tendencies but mostly that’s just how the human immune system works in general.

I’m no immunologist or virologist. But I can read. And that’s often all it takes to just not believe wildly inaccurate shit.
