This is a sad story, but it’s also full of calamitously boneheaded financial decisions that led to inevitable doom. Flipping houses? Are you flipping crazy?

And pulling money from mutual funds to buy a house?

Also, she received a lump-sum payout of $800,000 in today’s dollars from a pension buyout, got a return of 10% to 12% annually and is broke now? Clownish. They must’ve lost vast amounts on that house flipping scheme.

You do the stupid, the stupid returns tenfold.
