One thing both left and right are equally good at are inventing a virtuous concept and treating it as an unquestionable thing to uphold. The right want sexual purity, the left want racial purity, and they're horrified that maybe you like being dirty.

I’m in the “dirty” camp.

The left also want sexual purity, just in a different guise. And I’m not sure the left want racial “purity,” quite, but there is not a good word or phrase for what they do desire there. Maybe “irreducible authenticity?” Best I can manage without deeper thought.

But Aella is on the right track regarding the neuroses of both sides.
