I Am Vengeful
Men,what was the best revenge you’ve ever gotten?
Some girl with an insecure boyfriend lied about our friendship and her brother started harassing me and then threatening my co-worker and her kids. So I:
1) Got him fired from his job.
2) Got his car towed and the beginning of expensive repairs started on it (not sure what happened after that).
3) Disconnected his cable.
The coup de grรขce of course was the firing. He had a cushy and well-compensated job at Microsoft and he threw it all away. I only did what I did after he (the brother) started threatening a co-worker of mine and her kids because she was defending me against the lies this woman told about me. If he just had been threatening me, whatever. But he forced my hand. And lived to regret it.
I was going to do more but he begged me to leave him alone after that. And I follow the way of the rapper The Game, who said when someone begs for mercy, that mean the beef is over.
I told the harassing idiot that if I ever heard one more even hint of a threat against my co-worker or her kids again, I would not stop till he had nothing left in this life
Never heard a peep after that.
V to the V
Sooooo, has Hyper-V entered the chat yet?
Hyper-V works fine if set up correctly. I have put it into production for more than one client. All were pleased with it because I did it up right. It’s harder to set up and its requirements for functioning reliably are more finicky than VMWare. A lot of people screw up the Hyper-V config and then complain it does not work well. Not surprising, then, is it?
To be fair, it does have more bugs than VMWare but even before Broadcom’s shenanigans it was vastly cheaper. Hyper-V is good enough for 98%+ of businesses.
Cores
By the way, core inflation — the measure you should care about — is still at 4%.
The “Brave Fed Has Vanquished Inflation” fairytale is just that. Notice how when core inflation is up, the media does not mention that. They switch to some other measure. Conversely, when that other measure is rising they then switch to core. And that’s how the narrative is shaped. And most of you just fall for it without a second thought.
Get better minds that less resemble behinds.
My Middle Name
Do girls like dangerous/violent guys?
No, not in general, but women are very (probably too) attracted to confident guys (mostly) and those two qualities often go together. And too often women mistake “dangerous/violent” for confidence — when anyone who is a guy knows that belligerence is often just a way to mask insecurity and weakness. Try to convince many women of that, though, and you’ll get called an “incel.”
But they usually find out — unfortunately for them — on their own. Some lessons can only be learned the hard way for most people, women or men.
Too Inflate
The conventional wisdom is that inflation has been defeated. (Even though by the “transitory” idiots’ own measures, inflation is still ~50% above the 20-year pre-pandemic average.) But inflation is still raging in many sectors and is likely to get worse. The so-called victory against inflation is nowhere in sight.
To summarize all that, the things that matter are still inflating rapidly (housing, food, personal services) while the volatile energy and ever-decreasing information tech prices make the numbers look rosy.
But cain’t no one eat a damn TV or smartphone, ya fuckin’ mooks.
Crawlspace
What’s the scariest reveal in a horror movie?
Someone mentions it in the comments and it’s not a movie, but what immediately came to mind is when Violet finds her dead body in the first season of American Horror Story. Dang. I did not see that coming and I felt so very sorry for her — trapped forever in the house where she was murdered and not even realizing until that moment that she’s a ghost and has been for weeks (?).
Since she did not recall her own death, as a ghost she was continuing to be friendly with her own murderer too (who of course very much knew what she was). Argh.
Boral
Indeed we can. Many third world countries have better and more stringent labor protections than the US. The US is the world’s premier first world third world country.
All Time
My gender is not binary or non-binary. It is unary — I am every gender at once, infinitely, for all time.
This is my prerogative as Galactic Overlord.
Etad
Glad I’m not in the dating market now because between tattoos and social media corrupting and perverting their minds, around 99.95% of women between 18-60 are completely undateable.
What a world.
Edifiers
I bought these speakers when they were more than $100 cheaper and they were worth it. Don’t think they are for $400, though.
Don’t get me wrong — they sound quite good. They are a real step up on the compy from my ancient Logitechs from the early 2000s. I can distinguish lyrics better now and the sound stage is much more separated and the bass less muddy. My advice, then, is wait till they drop back below $300 and snap ’em up. They are quite nice for that price.
They do have a wonky weird remote, though. Doesn’t bother me much but ymmv.
Update: Looks like you can snag them right on Edifier’s site for less than three bills. Still not quite as cheap as I managed to get them but worth it for that kinda cabbage.
In the Runnin’
The reason I have always liked Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down a Dream” so much is lyrics like these:
Yeah, runnin’ down a dream that never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
Where I came from and how I grew up I knew early no opportunity was gonna come knocking. Nope, I was gonna have to chase that motherfucker overland, tranq dart it, zip tie its feet and hands and throw it in the trunk. And that’s exactly what I did.
All the people who weren’t tough from where I grew up are dead now. Funny, with how committed my dad and others were to telling me how weak and pitiful I was. Nearly all of those “tough” people are in cemeteries much too early now. How’d that work out, rat bastards? Looks like I got the last laugh there. And I’m honestly not bitter. I have a really great life. But it was real hard there for a while. So much harder than it shoulda been. Dancing on graves is the best expression of joy sometimes.
There’s something good waitin’ down this road
I’m pickin’ up whatever’s mine
Great line, “Pickin’ up whatever’s mine.” That’s what I had to do. Turns out I was pretty fuckin’ tough after all.
