Why is it that only women flirt with me?

Because men have been trained lately that any flirting or expression of interest is automatic harassment, so if you spend time mostly in professional or middle class or upper middle class environments it’s very unlikely that any man will flirt with you if you are a woman.

That is now extremely verboten.

Do men just recognize good men? What kind of sorcery is this?

Part of if is that even terrible guys are — for a little while anyway — going to be on their best behavior around women in which they are interested.

Another part is that many women are extremely delusional about how they can “fix” the bad boys that many of them seem to love nearly unreservedly (I guess because they are exciting?). This never works. I have not seen this “fix” happen even once. So they end up with some unemployed meth-addled loser who doesn’t have any real future and doesn’t even like them.

Meanwhile, I and most other men can sense exactly who these guys are in a thirty second conversation and often much less.

And no, it’s not that I (or other men, except incels) think these women should be with them instead or that I or we’d be better for them. Frankly, I don’t want to be with someone whose ideal partner is a meth-addicted clown.

A lot of women go on and on about how much they care about their safety but then choose an objectively dangerous mega-loser who is going to perhaps kill them. Many men (including me) look at this and it just seems freakin’ crazy to us. I still do not understand how that works and I think I never will.

Because it now requires login and I refuse to create an account, I just stopped visiting anything on Twitter. I don’t really miss it.

People are always surprised when you predict something that is extremely predictable, and when you know something on little information that could’ve for obvious reasons only happened one way.

The world is often strange and stochastic, but just as often events and actions are pretty damn foreseeable. Perhaps wisdom is knowing the difference.

This is such a great thread. Read it; it’s worth it.

It articulates something I’ve been attempting to express for a while about the neoliberalization and Taylorization of the human mind and spirit. When I’ve asserted things like that people should be able to find romance at work, should be able to have sex just for fun, should be able to act as more than robots in public life, and should be able to just enjoy things in general, even some of my friends have pushed back.

But though they are my friends, they are wrong. Life is more than what your boss thinks of you and how sweet that 4% raise is gonna be. At least it should be. And it could be if we made it that way.

If you live in Japan, learn to speak Japanese. If you can't communicate with people because you refuse to learn their language, you have nobody else to blame. And if you think the fact that people don't understand your language entitles you to sue them, you are a massive 🤡.

Exactly. I’m trying to get better at Spanish because we’re in an area where Spanish is pretty heavily used, and I’m in my own fucking country! And that’s great. I love going out and hearing half a dozen different languages.

I’ll never be a fluent Spanish speaker tbh — because I don’t really like talking to people that much. But being able to understand it and read the language matters too. Also, I try to learn like a dozen languages at once and though I have a big fucking brain, that puts some boundaries on any progress in any particular language. But I’m having fun.
