Fit Back

Indeed, it is possible if one wants to do it. Admittedly she had good genetics, but I had a friend in the 90s, 36 years old, who had a kid and a year later you could not tell she’d given birth. She was slightly below her pre-pregnancy weight afterward. And to answer the objection that “she was just wearing flattering clothes,”ย  I took fully nude photos of her (at her request) after she gave birth so I saw exactly what she looked like.

At one point, I asked her how she’d managed to look so amazing after giving birth. She said that it was mainly not ignoring fitness while pregnant, not gaining a huge amount of weight as that advice is 100% incorrect1, and then one should start to get back into exercise as soon as practicable after giving birth. She was back to working out two weeks after having her kid.

Much is possible with the will, and she had the will so she made the way. Can everyone do exactly the same as she did? No. As mentioned, she had very good genetics. That helps. But she was a single mom and not rich and she did it. Which means more people could.

  1. She was a nurse practitioner who specialized in ob/gyn so she knew what she was talking about.

Blund

It really is tragic that Mozilla destroyed Firefox’s add-on ecosystem several different times. This malicious negligence crashed the browser’s usage as people abandoned it since those torpedoed add-ons were Firefox’s main competitive advantage. It would be a far better world where FF had 25-30% market share (very realistic numbers) vs. the one where they made a series of hilarious and preventable blunders leading to irrelevance.

Nearly anyone could have done better than Mozilla senior leadership, so I wonder quite often if all this wasn’t deliberate. But sometimes, people are just huge dumbasses and we have to accept that.

Mozy On

Here’s what’s going on with your Add-ons being disabled, and how to work around the issue until its fixed.

This is old, but just shows that no developer knows how I should use my own applications or devices better than I do. I just don’t care about what anyone else wants or needs, frankly, or about protecting dear ol’ grammy from sending her money to Nigeria. She is going to do that anyway and can’t a thing in this world stop her.

So get the fuck out of my way and let me do what I want to do. Mozilla sucks and has for a long time now. I wish there were any viable alternative not run by complete douchebags.

Response

At the time, I thought shooting all the people who invaded the Capitol Building on January 6 was the correct response1. In prior times, it’s what would’ve been done to a hostile force attempting to violently take over the most important government building in the country. That level of fierce response would’ve been justified and unquestionably correct2.

But I was wrong about that. Allowing the mob to beclown themselves as they did was far better. There wasn’t a martyrdom event, therefore. They just looked like fools and dimwits, dressed in doofy clothes, stealing laptops and putting their feet up on desks. My way, though the “correct” response, would’ve been hugely counterproductive to the republic as a whole. The Jan. 6 rioters lost vastly more support with how stupid they looked and that was probably worth allowing them all not to get peppered with rounds from MP5s.

So I was wrong. It does happen, though not often. And I admit it when I am.

  1. Yes, I know that one of them was shot and killed.
  2. Shooting them till they surrendered or were repulsed, obviously. I am not advocating for summary executions.
