No matter what some people claim, culture has been remarkably static. As someone who lived through the very tail end of the 1970s, all of the 1980s, and the 1990s, culture used to change like a damn tornado had swept everything away before it.

Now it’s stuck, other than a few new slang terms and such. Someone who dressed, behaved and spoke like someone from 2005 would not be out of place at all now. Someone who dressed, spoke and acted like someone from 1975 in 1995…well, let’s just say they would’ve seemed like a hilarious and utterly-anachronistic dinosaur.

And don’t deny it. I was fucking there.

For sure. When I ran a blog that was over 1,000 times more popular than this one, I had several confirmed haters. One was so eager to bring me down a notch he threatened to contact my boss and tell her about all about the salacious stuff I’d written. Well, my boss at at that time already read my blog so I CCed my enemy and her on an email and said, “Hey, [Boss], what do you think about this blog of mine?” And she replied, “It’s a bit angry but well-written. I like it.”

And that shut him up. Mostly.

Also, no, not being fat is not enough to be hot. It’s just the bare minimum to have a chance. Taking care of yourself otherwise (dressing well, no tattoos, hair maintained) and attitude are what else matters.

Failed CISSP.

That cert has a 50% fail rate. Study more and take it again. It’s the hardest non-math exam I’ve taken and is a lot more difficult than most expect. I passed it first try but it was very challenging.

But here’s a tip without breaking NDA: The most technical answers on the exam are usually wrong. And that’d because it’s not a test of technical skill, but rather what’s the best overall solution for the security and health of the company itself. In other words you must think like a member of the executive leadership team, not like someone doing sysadmin stuff.

That tip will almost always eliminate 1-2 of the answers right from the jump.
