Thereโs one reason alone why itโs good that Google is a large, public company: enough
resources to push back against insanity like this.
Letโs hope it will do so.
I did not and wonโt look at the stolen celebrity photos mainly because I donโt care, but I knew the calls to censor the internet would ramp up after the leak despite the fact that itโll do little good.
For instance I know of at least a dozen places I could view the filched photos if I wished to do so, no Google required at all.
Google was really disappointing in bending to the piracy crusaders and thereby tainting its search results with great inaccuracy, but that was probably inevitable for a public company wanting access to media to redistribute.
It doesnโt need to further adulterate its results in feel-good ineffectual efforts. Weโve already lost it, but itโd still be nice to have a search engine that actually, you know, searched.
