Porn Has Nothing To Do With It

Beverly Hallberg on X: “I know SO many women in their 30s and 40s who desire marriage and children, and sadly it hasnโ€™t happened. They didnโ€™t choose a career over being a wife or mother; when they couldnโ€™t find a man willing to commit (porn is a significant factor in this), they worked to provide for” / X

Readily rebutted here:

The problem is not porn. The issue is that 90%+ of women want 10% of men. And I can see this in my life. Now that all except in height I am in that 10% or above, women are much more open to me, often when I have zero desire for them to be. Even if I were dating, I’d have absolutely no interest in any American woman because they are all poison-pilled.

Both women and men do nothing but lie, lie, lie about dating. This is women’s version of that. Porn has zero to do with it; porn is a result, a symptom, not a cause.

The Genes

It’s just good genes. Paul Newman had 1 in 100 million quality genes. Sometimes that’s all it is.

My mom was with a dude who drank 15-20 beers a day every day and he had six-pack abs. It was just genes. He was as dumb as a pulverized rock, but his physique was just genetically that way. And no, he didn’t work out, and in fact being a North Florida loser he barely worked at all.

So what it takes someone more average like me years of working out and cutting calories for a month to get to, he just had. That’s how life is sometimes.

State Design

That image looks AI-generated, but yes, the state of design in the US is appalling. And no, it isn’t due to cost (directly). It’s due to choosing. Overall, the cost of far superior and more human-centered design would only be about 10% more. Amortized over the length of a mortgage, in most places that’d be about $50 a month.

Paying $50 a month more to live in something that doesn’t look like a second-rate horse barn would be worth it to most people.

It Was You

Gary Marcus on X: "Get used to stories like these. They are becoming more frequent." / X

Idiot, you wiped out your production environment. Claude didn’t do that. What kind of dipshit mook just allows Claude to go to to town in production with no checks?

For those who aren’t familiar with Terraform, you can and should generate a terraform plan (that’s the actual command) that’ll tell you in advance before any changes are made exactly and completely deterministically what Terraform will do.

That this tardbiscuit did not do that has nothing to do with Claude and everything to do with their own negligence.

Get Over

99% of the time when a woman insists a man did something because he “just wanted sex” he was not thinking about sex at all (even subconsciously) and was just attempting to do something nice.

Funny how that got so skewed, but I think it’s a way of appearing desirable with plausible deniability. “Oh, I’m so gorgeous, men just want nothing but sex, sex, sex from me….” blah blah blah.

Oh, come on, get over yourself.

Isle See You

What’s the allegedly all-important “stages of life” nonsense people always bring up when they talk about how age gap relationships (romantic or otherwise) are worse than the apocalypse?

I have no idea what that could even mean. I realize that I am abnormal in many ways, but if you’re an adult what’s the difference if you’re in college or working or sailing the Greek isles on a gap year or sabbatical or whatever? It’s what you have in common that matters.

Perhaps it’s because I live in my head so much, if someone can hold their own intellectually with me1 I don’t give a crap what supposed clownishly superficial “life stage” they are in. You can either understand what the fuck Hume was talking about or you cannot. Your mind can either dance or it can’t. The rest is irrelevant to me.

And I know I am only attracted to (as either friends or lovers) headstrong women, so perhaps that also makes a difference. I don’t have time nor heart for the weak.

I just can’t imagine putting so much focus on something that’s largely irrelevant2 and then losing out on so much else.

  1. Admittedly, that’s a very small set of people.
  2. As long as both people are adults.

Easy As

The below post reminds me of how many times in my life I’ve gotten the, “How could you possibly know that?” reaction.

Bro, they have these things called books. You can pick them up and read them. Then you’ll know what I know.

Easy-peasy.

Do the Work

Patrick Heizer on X: "During college, I got a job in an immunology lab despite not majoring in a biological science. Asked my PI how I should go about learning immunology. He said, "Immunobiology by Charles Janeway." I bought & read it. Apparently, no previous undergrad hire had ever done this." / X

When I figured out many years ago that you could read one good textbook about a subject and know more than 50% of “experts” in the actual field and 99.999% of laypeople, I was flabbergasted. Most people — again, even the experts — simply have not done the work.

If you read and understand ~3 books in a field of study, you then know more than ~95% of experts and 99.9999999% of laypeople. I’ve done this in roughly 100 fields, though some I need to refresh on since it’s been two decades.

(I’ve read the Janeway Immunobiology book, by the way. It’s very good! Basic Immunology: Functions and Disorders of the Immune System by Abbas et al. is also great.)
