I disbelieve that the Meyers-Briggs is not predictive in some scenarios, though I understand just fine what psychologists say about it and why.
However, I think at least 80% of the antipathy towards the test is because it was not developed by psychologists.
Meyers-Briggs is some aid in understanding oneโs self better (just like tarot cards) and that has value even if it cannot be measured โ and Iโm very much an empirical, science-focused guy if you didnโt know.
But STEM types like to pretend that science is all there is, and in reality thatโs just not true. The universe ainโt made of math and most things we just donโt know even if we have revealed by trial and travail some vital rules here and there. But they donโt scale and we canโt handle any composite cases with them (the dark secret of science).
Meyers-Briggs is a mostly-harmless diversion that doesnโt mean much, really. I also think psychologists despise it because it works at least as well as any tools theyโve developed โ which is not well at all even for the โscientificโ ones.
