Same in most other civilized countries. Working at a gas station or convenience store in Germany isnโ€™t seen as disgraceful as it is by the โ€œeducatedโ€ here. I wonder about the causality of it all, though.

I mean, I donโ€™t think it worked quite in the way Caitlin is talking about, but the result was the same: the โ€œeducatedโ€ spurred by neoliberal capitalists found it acceptable to derogate less educated workers, even referring to them as โ€œunskilled,โ€ thus justifying the wish to pay them far less.
