I spend a lot of time reading children's stories aloud, and I can now do it without any conscious attention, even if the story is new. I can be thinking of something else entirely. This surprises me โ I would have thought reading would be a paradigm conscious activity.

I used to read, watch a movie and listen to music at the same time.
I donโt do that anymore, but I still could if I wanted to. โImpossible to multitaskโ is some shit only scientists doing weird, improper tests believe. In reality, people successfully multitask all the time in all sorts of ways.
Itโs only in unfamiliar, extremely-high cognitive load tasks where multitasking is a problem.
