Just read the phrase "whip smart" for the second time today to describe a writer (a woman) who is apparently not stupid. Have you ever read a man described as such? It's almost as if the default view of women in the arts is that they're a bit thick unless you say otherwise.

Iโve heard this used about dozens (at least) of men. Maybe itโs more common in the Southern US? Though itโs usually said of young men.
