I don’t think people realize how drastically different cultural expectations can be even in the same country. And how different people’s preferences can be.

A few days ago, I was thinking of this in reference to sex and laughing. When I was younger, I broke up with one woman and met another one soon after. And the woman I was then with wondered out loud (without my prompting) how any woman could not enjoy a certain sex act. And I’d just ended it with a woman who had also declaimed in exactly the same exasperated, wondering tone how any woman could actually enjoy that same sex act.

People can be really, really different. And then don’t acknowledge or even realize how much. I’ve always found it odd how little awareness and self-awareness there is.
